"Frightening"

submission: Dementia

Is the word for this piece. Its a nice turn, yet keeps your signiture bass (something that is key to your creations, it fits all of your layers together nicely). Personally, I like putting visuals with my music, helps me understand them better, so..with this one, it with a guy who was frightened, scared, nervous, because he could not remember who he was, where he was, or where he was going. Then, he suddenly remembers, and the room he was in morphs, melts to reveal a sort of machine workshop factory, working, building, he looks with horror to see what the factory is making, and sees that it is HIM. Then a mysterious entity takes control, and he forgets everything that he saw. And behind him, a new being gains conciousness and become frightened, scared, and cant remember a thing.

Author's Response:

Reviewing an oldie! This is quite a bit older than its date on NG. I probably made this around 2001 or 2002. And it's a remix of a song I made in Anvil Studio around 1999 or so.. Back then, I really didn't have a style per say. I didn't even have many musical influences, so my stuff was kind've all over the place. Excellent visuals again. Thanks!

"To Describe This Piece"

date: December 29, 2007

is to describe a story. It begins with the ocean, a soft drop into the silent calm sea, listening to the color of the water around you, then suddenly, the water grows, begins to resemble that of trees, a forest comes out of the bottom, and gradually grows to where you observe, soon, the sound of drums find their way to your ears, and your senses delve into a tropical rainforests, soothingly becoming an active part of your mind, echoing, waiting, whispering in your ear ever so slightly, then falls silent to let your hear the night, the sky and the earth below you. At once you are at peace, beginning to understand the events around you, the drums start again, slowly, just as before, and a new day is born, and the drums are accompanied by a wise sound, an old sound, a sound of knowing, that beckons you to embrace the world you have created. Then as quick as it came, you melt back into the sea of calm, floating slowly to the surface, the light briefly glimmering overhead to bring you to the end. Thats the best I can describe it, again, this and Strange Petals are definitaly the songs to sleep by, as they are able to lull you to sleep into a good dream. (by the way, I've looked into that stuff too, although, I have only been able to control my dreams about 3 times in the past year, but when you do, the possibilities are endless eh? Its almost like your the master of your tiny little world!) Anyway, These peices are pure brilliance, and thank you for the song once again.

Author's Response:

Another great visual! I like it when reviewers tell me what they see when they listen to a song. I also like it when they take my song to the perfect location, like when a reviewer played Moon Burn in the Norwegian forests on a winter night! I love the attachment of music and visuals. Thanks for another review! - although Kevin Johnson (Bamsukka) deserves half of the credit here. Couldn't have made it without him!

(Gillenium) Strange Petals

"I wouldn't be suprised if...."

date: December 28, 2007

more movies or games based on dreams featured this piece, its truly brilliant, and its a piece that reaches deep down, into the dark part of the psyche, and allows a breif glimmer of sight to which you can see that which was invisible. In short, this piece allows an easier understanding to dreams (or at least my dreams) as it acts as sort of a.....theme song if you will, having the corrects tones and melody to play the part. In short, this is truly a thought provoking piece, truly a mesmerizing pieces, truly true to all degrees of conciencness to be beautiful, thank you for the piece.

Author's Response:

Wow, that was deeper than most Gillenium reviews get! Most reviews are like "Woohoo! Good song dudez! What programs do you use??" haha

I've actually been studying dreams some recently (this is why the title Dream Machine seemed like such a good idea when Kevin suggested it to me recently). I've been working on being able to control my dreams. It takes several steps and a long time to master though. You have to start with good dream recall. I can remember about 4 dreams a night now, which is way more than I used to remember..

But anyway, about the song - yeah, it took a while to make... There's an unbelievable number of layers on it. I'm glad you enjoyed! Thanks or the review
